With improvements like this, the gaming world could be in a real-life state within 10 years. This means the future of gaming is closer than some may think.

Real life animations + graphics are all well and good, but it does not make a good game, the physics have to be accurate and realistic in a lot of games. Does this mean that a lot of fun things will be taken out of games like this :

No modifcations used…. Does this mean things like this will die out? Games are supposed to be fun, but by making them so real it takes out a certain aspect of the game.

Games like Total Annihilation:

Are a lot more fun then their remake, Supreme Commander even if the graphics are better

But the gameplay is not as good.

With the future development of games and output devices such as TV and monitors gaming has the ability to go to new lengths, where graphics are so good it is like watching a video of someones life. But it might not stop here, the graphics could be life-like, and the device could help stimulate other senses the human body has, such as touch, taste, smell and sound. How could this be achieived? I’ll leave that for someone else to decide, however what can it achieve…..

By stimulating  all five senses you can help simulate real life situations, depending on the game this can help the player get through real life situations, but what if the experience is so real you cannot distinguish real life and the gaming life. What if you get confused what situation you are in, could you go around stealing peoples cars and shooting their foreheads without consequence? This could be bad for obvious reasons.

However it can easily aid society, by online gaming it helps with social techiniques as people actually meet to play games. They work as a team to achieve their goal which can help people in real life situations.

Imagine if graphics in games were as a real as this:

could the crowbar be used to aid people,  or kill them?

 The Sega Megadrive used a 9 year old processor called the Motorola 68000.

A few years later the Playstation started to take advantage of the hardware which incorporated processors which were optimized for games, it had a seperate processor for 3D geometry work.

By the time of the Playstation 2 hardware was created specifically for the console so it could perform better than any other hardware currently around.

 Now on systems such as the PS3 they have a CELL system which has a facility to allow the console to branch into a multi processor system. at this point power consumption and heat generation was a lot, more than the other technology could keep up with. For every bit of speed, the power consumption would be a ridiculous amount.

Since the start of video games, the hardware and software have both improved.  Software for gaming consoles have gone from something simple, such as a blue screen, to a graphically appealing user interface with more options than the standard play the game.

On the left is the xbox 360 dash board. It shows different systems, including tabs for games, media, and xbox live. The media tab will contain things such as  music and video. The xbox dashboard also contains something called the market place which allows you to buy new things for your system.

The sega megadrive system is completely different, it does not have any “dashboard” as such and is completely reliant on cartridges to do anything.
